Jibhi, Tirthan and Jalori: how to plan the quieter Kullu side

HimSafar Editorial · Destination guides · 28 June 2026 · 1 min read

Jibhi and Tirthan attract travellers who want Kullu without the Manali rush. The landscape is quieter, the stays are smaller, and the best days are built around waterfalls, village walks, forest roads and patient meals.

The transport planning is less obvious. Many travellers arrive through Aut, Banjar or Kullu, then move towards Jibhi, Tirthan or Jalori Pass. Public transport exists, but it may not match short-stay timing. A cab can unlock the area, but only if the route and waiting time are clear.

Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake need special attention. Weather, road condition and season change the experience quickly. A day plan should include an early start, warm layers and enough buffer for slow sections.

Tirthan is different. It is less about one viewpoint and more about staying near the river, walking into villages and exploring the Great Himalayan National Park ecozone with proper guidance. That means the cab plan should support short local transfers, not just a single long drop.

HimSafar’s expanded destination list now treats Jibhi and Tirthan as independent travel zones rather than minor add-ons to Manali. That is important because offbeat tourism fails when transport is treated as an afterthought.

Go slower here. The valley is better when you stop trying to “cover” it.
